The Displaced Cactus

Adventures of a former desert dweller transplanted to Washington

Who is The Displaced Cactus?

Author of The Displaced Cactus

Meet the writer behind The Displaced Cactus!

Hello! My name is AJ, and this is my blog. I’ve been maintaining a dance blog for years, but it’s very much shifted to be geared towards my fellow dancers as the primary audience. So I thought it was about time I started a personal blog to write about everything else in my life.

Why “The Displaced Cactus”?

Because I spent the first thirty-four years of my life living in the desert before suddenly up and moving to WA on a whim. I could say I feel like a fish out of water, but there’s actually a lot of water up here so “displaced cactus” seemed to fit.

Also I like cactus.

Also the domain name was actually available. That helped a lot.

What will you be writing about?

This blog will cover a lot of things that I’m interested in. The main bulk of it will be general PNW life… Profiling the events and local businesses that I check out as my partner and I get to know our new home. There will also be book reviews, because I read a lot, and maybe reviews of other things as well. Maybe some DIY projects.

When will you update?

Mostly on weekends. I already have a few blogs I write for during the week. It may take me a bit to hit my stride and come up with a regular update schedule, but I hope to make at least one post every weekend that I am home.

Can I follow you on social media?

Yes! Find me on Instagram for photos of my adventures.

Thank you for your interest in my new blog. Let me know what you’d like to read about!
